Description
Here, everything ramps up – more concentration and weight, more grip to the tannins, deeper fruit characters.
Hand-selection of bunches as well as a higher percentage of whole bunch (30%) and new oak (30%) has led to a wine of greater intensity than its sibling. Deep red fruits lead into complex oak characters and a long finish.
2017 Schoolhouse has the weight and power to see it develop in bottle over the next decade and longer.
2020 Halliday Wine Companion –
A richer style than its siblings with liquorice, tobacco, and sweet spice notes adding complexity to the ripe fruit characters. There’s density and depth to the flavours here and a glycerous quality about the mouthfeel. Will age very well.
